CERTIFICATION LEVELS

There are currently three levels of certification for experiential therapists through ASET.

Level I (CET I) Certification requires:

  • Possess at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a mental health field relevant to his/her area of practice.
  • Have 90 hours of training in the following areas:
    • 50 hours *Experiential Therapy training or Psychodrama training
    • 30 hours *Psychodrama training
    • 10 hours *Trauma training
  • After initial certification, the therapist agrees to and provides evidence of 5 hours a year of approved Psychodrama, Experiential Therapy, or Addiction training.
  • Fulfill all application requirements.

Level II (CET II) Certification requires:

  • Possess at least a master's degree from an accredited university in a mental health field relevant to his/her area of practice.
  • Have 200 hours of training in the following areas:
    • 60 hours *Experiential Therapy training
    • 100 hours *Psychodrama training
    • 20 hours *Trauma training
    • 20 hours *Addiction training
  • After initial certification, the therapist agrees to and provides evidence of 5 hours a year of approved Psychodrama, Experiential Therapy, or Addiction training.
  • Fulfill all application requirements.

Level III (CET III) Certification requires:

  • Possess at least a master's degree from an accredited university in a mental health field relevant to his/her area of practice.
  • Have 500 hours of training in the following areas:
    • 200 hours *Experiential Therapy training
    • 200 hours *Psychodrama training
    • 50 hours *Trauma training
    • 50 hours *Addiction training
  • After initial certification, the therapist agrees to and provides evidence of 5 hours a year of approved Psychodrama, Experiential Therapy, or Addiction training.
  • Fulfill all application requirements.
